Led Zeppelin‘s ‘Live‘ EP Lands in Top 10, Marking First New Chart Peak in a Decade
Led Zeppelin achieved a new top 10 on the Billboard Top Album Sales chart with the release of their Live EP, their thirteenth to do so. The band has accumulated 22 appearances on the chart with slightly more than half resulting in top 10 rankings. This marks Led Zeppelin’s first new top 10 album in a decade, following The Complete BBC Sessions in october 2016, which peaked at No. 10 on the vinyl roster.
While successful in album sales, Led Zeppelin has only once topped the Top Album Sales tally, with How the West Was Won in 2003. The Live EP also returns the band to the upper ranks of the vinyl chart, a position they last held in August 2015 when Presence, In Through the Out Door, and Coda debuted at Nos. 2, 3, and 4, respectively.
The EP’s release on September 12 coincided with the fiftieth anniversary of Led Zeppelin’s Physical Graffiti, originally released in 1975. Both a special anniversary edition of Physical Graffiti and the Live EP were made available to fans.
The Live EP features four tracks: “In My Time of Dying” and “Trampled Underfoot” recorded at Earls Court in 1975, and “Sick Again” and “Kashmir” captured at a 1979 show in Knebworth.
Beyond the Top Album Sales chart, the EP debuted on three additional Billboard charts: No. 12 on Top Hard Rock Albums, and No. 38 on top Rock & Option Albums. It also landed at No.150 on the Billboard 200, moving approximately 9,650 equivalent units, with minimal contribution from streaming or individual track sales.
