OKLAHOMA CITY — LeBron James progressed significantly in his recovery from a right-side sciatic nerve issue, participating in a full practice wiht teh South Bay Lakers, the Los angeles Lakers’ G League affiliate, on wednesday, marking his first on-court action of the season.
The 38-year-old James has been sidelined to start the year due to the nerve ailment.
Lakers head coach JJ Redick shared the update with reporters prior to Wednesday night’s game against the Oklahoma City Thunder, noting James “looked good” in reports he received.
“He was able to participate in the practice,” Redick said.”Got up and down a little bit with just some, like, warmup transition drills and progressed to 5-on-5 in the half court, and got, I think about 12 to 15 possessions of live 5-on-5 contact.”
Entering his 23rd NBA season, James remains the league’s all-time leading scorer. The Lakers have compiled an 8-3 record in his absence.
