Beirut Traffic Alert: Road closures Announced for Hezbollah Commemoration Event
Beirut – Significant traffic disruptions are anticipated in the city on december 10, 2025, as authorities prepare for a large-scale event commemorating the anniversaries of the deaths of former Hezbollah secretary-Generals Hassan Nasrallah and Hashem Safi al-Din, alongside the 40th founding anniversary of the Imam al-Mahdi Scouts Association. The Internal Security Forces (ISF) have announced a series of road closures begining at 5:00 AM and lasting until 6:00 PM to facilitate the event, expected to draw a significant number of attendees from across Lebanon to the Camille Chamoun Sports City.
The commemoration holds deep significance for Hezbollah supporters and the broader Shi’a community in Lebanon, marking a period of remembrance and reaffirmation of the group’s ideological foundations. The event’s scale necessitates the temporary alteration of traffic patterns in a key area of Beirut, impacting commuters and residents alike. The ISF is urging citizens to cooperate with security personnel and heed all directives to minimize congestion and ensure public safety.
Specifically, the following roads will be closed to traffic: the access road alongside Ziad Rahbani Highway between the Kuwaiti Embassy Roundabout and the Sports City, in both directions; Adnan Al-Hakim Street, fully closed from the Sports City down to the Marriott Hotel and vice versa; and the route from the Airport Bridge Roundabout leading up to the Kuwaiti Embassy Roundabout on its northern side. Traffic will continue to flow unimpeded on the Ziad Al-Rahbani Highway expressway itself.
The ISF has requested that the public remain vigilant and follow the guidance of security forces deployed to manage traffic flow during the event. motorists are advised to plan choice routes and allow for extra travel time.
