Applications are now being accepted for Class XXX of Leadership Tri-Cities, a program designed to cultivate leaders in the Mid-Columbia region. The program, which has been running for over three decades, will begin accepting applications online today, with a deadline of April 30th.
Founded in 1994, Leadership Tri-Cities offers an 11-month program intended to provide participants with a comprehensive understanding of the issues facing the area and to equip them with the skills necessary to drive positive change. Between 25 and 30 individuals will be selected to participate, with the class announcement scheduled for June 11th, following the graduation of the current Class XXIX.
The program’s curriculum consists of monthly full-day sessions covering a range of topics, including local and state government, agriculture, and education. These sessions feature discussions with community experts, workshops, team-building exercises, and direct engagement with local issues. A key component of each class is a collaborative community service project undertaken for a local nonprofit or civic organization.

The launch of the application period comes as the Tri-Cities area navigates challenges within its school systems. Recent reports indicate Richland schools faced a difficult year in 2024, marked by a school shooting and subsequent job cuts, prompting leaders to seek improvements in the coming year.
Separately, concerns have been raised regarding hiring practices at Tri-Cities Christian Academy, as reported by a parent to local news outlets.
