Leader Electronics ZEN/ZEN-W v8.2: Cinematic Monitoring for Live Broadcasts

Leader‍ Electronics Empowers Live Broadcast with Cinematic Monitoring Tools

leader Electronics has released software‌ update v8.2 for its ZEN and ZEN-W ‌series waveform monitors and rasterizers, integrating advanced tools traditionally used in cinematic production ‍into live broadcast workflows.

The update⁣ introduces support for ARRI LogC3/C4, RED, and Sony S-Log false color palettes across the entire ZEN‌ Series (LV5600, LV7600, LV5350, LV7300) and ZEN-W Series (LV5600W, LV7600W).

This growth⁣ addresses a growing trend: ‍broadcasters and media companies are increasingly incorporating large-sensor cinematic cameras alongside ‍customary broadcast cameras to achieve a more filmic look in live sports, music,⁢ and entertainment. While this delivers a desirable aesthetic‍ – shallower depth‍ of field and a more dynamic image – it presents a challenge in maintaining consistent exposure and‍ color across different camera systems.

Leader’s⁣ v8.2 update bridges this gap by bringing its‌ established expertise in cinematography monitoring ‌to the live production habitat. The new false color presets,⁣ commonly used to assess exposure‍ in Log-encoded footage,‍ offer⁣ vision engineers a clear and⁢ immediate‌ way to match exposure and ensure visual consistency ‌between diverse camera sources.

This allows for seamless transitions between cinematic and conventional broadcast feeds,⁤ maintaining a unified monitoring ⁤workflow from the studio to the outside broadcast (OB) truck. Building on features initially available in the LV5350,the update extends these cinematic monitoring⁤ capabilities across ‍the full ZEN⁣ and ZEN-W ‌product range.

“Live production ⁣is rapidly evolving as producers ⁤seek to replicate the cinematic experience in live events,” says‌ Koichi Fukagawa, Manager of Sales Planning Unit at Leader Electronics.”With v8.2, we’re giving vision⁤ engineers the tools they need ⁢to confidently and consistently deliver⁤ that creative vision, from capture to broadcast, using tools they already know and trust.”
