Latvia Opens Applications for Winter Reservist Military Training Course
Riga, Latvia - The National Armed Forces (NAF) of Latvia is now accepting applications from Latvian citizens interested in completing a reserve military training course. The intensive program, designed to provide basic military skills to those without prior experience, will run from February 7th to February 28th, 2026.
Interested individuals can apply through the online recruitment platform “klustikaravirs.lv” until August 29th.
This course is open to Latvian citizens aged 18 to 60 who have not previously completed military service. Upon successful completion of the training and taking the soldierS oath, participants will receive a reserve soldier’s certificate and be assigned to the Armed Forces reserve, becoming subject to mobilization duties.
The curriculum covers both individual and collective training, encompassing essential skills such as arms training, combat shooting, dialog protocols, military regulations, field combat techniques, topography, orientation, and basic medicine. Training will be conducted through a combination of classroom lectures, practical exercises in designated areas, and field simulations, including both theoretical and practical assessments.
Participants will be provided with accomodation – either in barracks or field tents – along with necessary uniforms and equipment. A daily compensation of €41.75 will be provided via bank transfer within one month of the course’s completion. Reservists will also receive either catered meals or a daily food allowance of €14.
The training will be held in aluksne, Latvia, with scheduled holidays on February 15th and 22nd.
Applicants will be required to meet the health standards prescribed for military service, as resolute by a Medical Commission assessment.
