A late-season corn planting is underway in an area of Guatemala, according to a recent social media post. Santos López Lovet, posting on Instagram on February 22, 2026, detailed the planting of a late corn crop, specifying a seeding density of 6.8 plants per square meter and a fertilization plan of 110 kg/ha of MAP and 130 kg/ha of urea.

The post, which included images of cattle grazing on forage sorghum, indicated a plan to utilize the sorghum as a resource before destocking and moving calves to pasture. The cows will remain in a concentrated feeding regime on the sorghum.

Santos López Orellana, identified as a resident of Charlotte, North Carolina, is currently facing a critical health situation following a work accident on February 2nd, according to a Facebook post by NextPoint News. The post describes López Orellana as a husband, father, and grandfather, and notes that his family is seeking support for potential funeral arrangements in Guatemala.

A search of obituaries for the surname Lopez on Legacy.com yielded 34,568 results, but did not contain any immediate matches for Santos López Orellana.

Prior to the news of his accident, López Lovet’s Instagram account also showed images of cattle grazing on forage sorghum on February 21, 2026.
