Landtag Brandenburg Budget Committee Schedules Special Public Session
The state budget for 2027 and 2028 moves to center stage in Brandenburg as the Committee for Budget and Finance prepares a special public session on September 15, 2026, according to the official portal of the Landtag Brandenburg.
Budget Draft and Opposition Amendments under Scrutiny
Lawmakers will review the primary draft of the budgetary accompaniment law for the 2027 and 2028 financial periods, registered as Drucksache 8/3335 from September 2, 2026. Alongside the government proposal, the committee will evaluate an amendment submitted by the BSW faction under Drucksache 8/3398 on September 15, 2026.
The agenda divides the public hearing into five distinct thematic blocks. Complex A focuses on daycare quality, financing structures, training programs, and sports promotion. Complex B addresses university medicine, the financing of the Medizinische Universität Lausitz – Carl Thiem, care associations, and social support infrastructure.
Committee Hearing Covers Water Extraction and Debt Brakes
Complex C shifts attention toward water extraction regulations, agricultural operations, and mining activities. Complex D centers on municipal structures and compensation mechanisms for local government overburdens. Complex E tackles the constitutional debt brake, structural credit uptake, and the role of the Investitionsbank des Landes Brandenburg (ILB).
Beyond the primary budget bill, the committee hearing covers a second legislative proposal. The Tenth Law Amending the Brandenburg Financial Equalization Act, submitted as Drucksache 8/3323 on September 1, 2026, forms the second major item of the official agenda.

Public Registration Requirements for the Session
The session also incorporates official correspondence submitted by the Deutsche Bundesbank on September 14, 2026. Interested members of the public, media representatives, and ministry personnel must register in advance with the committee secretariat by email at ausschussahf@landtag.brandenburg.de or telephone at 0331 966-1176, preferably by the day before the session, presenting official photo identification or a state service ID upon entry, as access controls may take place. Visitors requiring barrier-free access measures are asked to notify the secretariat upon registration, noting that advance planning requires some lead time, while seat reservations occur in order of registration as space allows, keeping in mind that no parking is available at or in the parliament building.
The proceedings will be broadcast live via the internet on the state parliament website, with a recording scheduled for archival availability in the media library for a six-month duration starting the following day.
