Lamphere Navigates Late-Race Obstacles for NY-penn IMCA Modified Series Win at woodhull
WOODHULL, N.Y.(Sept. 27, 2025) – Keith Lamphere expertly maneuvered through lapped traffic in the closing laps to capture his third Woodhull Raceway victory of the season and second triumph in the Close Racing Supply NY-Penn IMCA Modified Series presented by Insinger Performance Racing Fuels on saturday night. The thrilling race saw Lamphere, Jeff Reay, and Randall Paxton battle three-wide before Lamphere seized the lead on lap 22.
The NY-Penn IMCA Modified Series finale at Woodhull drew competitors from across the region, including national points leader Jeff Reay, who traveled from Michigan. The race was punctuated by early cautions as drivers sought a consistent rhythm, ultimately setting the stage for a captivating contest between Reay, Paxton, and the local favorite, Lamphere.
Reay initially established the pace, with paxton closely following, but Lamphere steadily closed the gap, utilizing the bottom groove to challenge for the lead. A back-and-forth exchange between Reay and Lamphere saw the lead change hands multiple times before lapped cars became a factor. Lamphere strategically used a slower vehicle as a pick on the high side to overtake reay on lap 22 and held on through the final three laps for the win.
jeff Reay finished second despite sustaining a broken left front, while Randall Paxton secured third place. earl Zimmer, the series points leader, finished fourth, and Rodney morgan’s night was hampered by fuel pickup issues. Jakub Ingham of Wyalusing, Pa., rounded out the top five and was also crowned the Woodhull Raceway track champion.
