Lamine Yamal Will Miss U20 World Cup in Chile
Barcelona forward Lamine Yamal will not participate in the upcoming FIFA U-20 World Cup in Chile,scheduled to run from September 27 to October 19. The Spanish national team announced its roster for the tournament, and the 16-year-old star is notably absent.
Yamal’s omission comes as he continues to establish himself with the senior Spanish national team, having recently earned praise from veteran player alexis Sánchez following Spain‘s match against cyprus. His rapid ascent to the first team, coupled with the timing of the U-20 World Cup, has led to the decision to prioritize his advancement with the senior squad. Spain is grouped in Group C alongside Brazil, Mexico, and Morocco, with matches to be held in Santiago, Valparaíso, Rancagua, and Talca.
The Spain U-20 squad includes goalkeepers Fran González (Real Madrid), Vicent Abril (Valencia), and Raúl Jiménez (Valencia).
