Lake Oswego Dominates Central Catholic to Claim 6A Football Championship
HILLSBORO, Ore. – Lake Oswego secured a decisive victory over Central catholic,winning the OSAA Class 6A football state championship with a final score of 35-7 on Saturday. The Lakers built a commanding lead early in the game and never relinquished control, claiming their first state title since 2018.
Lake Oswego wasted no time establishing dominance. An early interception by Bauman in the end zone led to a 1-yard touchdown run by LaMarcus Bell,though the extra point attempt was missed,making it 13-0. Quarterback Kurland extended the lead in the second quarter with a 5-yard touchdown run, bringing the score to 20-0.Central Catholic’s struggles continued with a fumble forced by Rowen Long and recovered by Cash Wilks, setting up a 1-yard touchdown run by Justin Craigwell and pushing the Lakers’ advantage to 27-0.
The second half saw Lake Oswego further solidify their lead. Craigwell broke free for a 19-yard touchdown, followed by a successful two-point conversion from Kurland to Ethan Uecker, establishing a 35-0 lead and triggering the running clock.
Central Catholic managed to avoid a shutout on the game’s final play when KK Sombe recovered a loose ball and ran it in for a touchdown.
This championship win marks Lake Oswego’s first since 2018, having previously finished as runners-up in 2019 and 2024. For Central Catholic, it was only the second loss in a state championship game, following a 62-7 defeat to West Linn in 2016.
