Lady Gaga Transforms Paris Accor Arena into Gothic Spectacle
PARIS,November 22 – Lady Gaga concluded a sold-out three-night run at the Accor Arena in Paris tonight, delivering a concert experience described as a gothic show of controlled gigantism. The performances, held November 18, 19, and 22, showcased a blend of theatrical extravagance and intimate musicality, captivating audiences with a visually and emotionally complex production.
The show distinguished itself from typical pop concerts through its “mischief” and ”elegant extravagance of the costumes,” offering a depth rarely seen in contemporary live performances. despite a narrative that “gradually fades away,” the concert’s power lay in its ability to restart momentum, shifting from large-scale spectacle – including a giant skull reminiscent of vanitas paintings – to moments of striking intimacy.
Gaga navigated a diverse setlist spanning her career, from the Jacksonian energy of Shadow of a Man (Mayhem) to the calmer tones of her 2016 country album Joanne. The performance also included selections from A Star is Born (2018),her collaboration with Bradley Cooper, and her recent hit Die with a Smile, released this year. The concert culminated in a final rendition of Bad Romance, featuring Gaga in a striking costume with feathered gloves evoking Edward Scissorhands.Critics noted the performance was “interesting because always slightly disturbing.”
