Lackey and Lamanna Named Sun Belt Players of the Week
During the fourth week of conference play, Sun Belt Conference Women’s Soccer Player of the Week accolades were given to Ginny Lackey, a James Madison fourth-year forward, and Aris Lamanna, a third-year goalkeeper for Coastal Carolina.
Ginny Lackey Claims Fourth Career Offensive Honor
Lackey secured the Offensive Player of the Week award for the fourth time in her career. It is her first time receiving the recognition since October 14, 2025. The forward from Bolton, Manchester, England, registered six points on three goals across two matches, leading James Madison to a 2-0 record in conference play.
She recorded her second brace of the season during a 2-0 road victory against Arkansas State on October 7. In that match, she took eight shots with three finding the target. Four days later, on October 11, Lackey scored the unassisted game-winning goal on a corner kick with under ten minutes remaining in the second half, lifting the Dukes to a 2-1 win over rival Old Dominion.
The two-time All-America selection has now scored a goal in seven consecutive matches. She currently leads the Sun Belt in conference play with eight goals, 17 points, 26 total shots, and 14 shots on goal.
Aris Lamanna Secures Second Defensive Award
Lamanna earned her second Defensive Player of the Week honor of the 2026 season, making her the first repeat weekly honoree in the conference this year. The third-year goalkeeper from Murrysville, Pennsylvania, recorded nine total saves without conceding a goal across 175 minutes of action as the Chanticleers finished the week 2-0.
She stopped five shots in 85 minutes during a 4-1 home win over Southern Miss on October 8. She followed that performance by securing her sixth clean sheet of the season with four saves in a 1-0 road victory at App State on October 11. With six individual shutouts, Lamanna shares a three-way tie for the highest total in the Sun Belt.
