La Nucía Solidifies Position as Sports Hub with New Combat Sports Center & National Games
La Nucía has further cemented its reputation as a leading spanish sports destination with the inauguration of the “La Nucía Combat Sports Center” and the commencement of the I National Combat Sports games. The event, celebrated this week, highlights a collaborative effort between seven Spanish sports federations and underscores the town’s commitment to fostering athletic talent.
The newly opened Combat Sports Technique Center boasts 3,500 square meters of dedicated training space, divided into five large, adaptable multipurpose areas of 650 square meters each. Equipped with mobile combat rings, a complete gym, and punching bags, the facility is designed to serve athletes across a variety of combat sports. Supporting amenities include two large changing rooms, a physiotherapy room, a meeting room, a dedicated training room, athlete dining/office space, reception, and administrative offices. The center is strategically located on the first floor of the “La Nucía Shopping Center,” providing easy access to the Ciutat Esportiva Camilo Cano.
“This is one more piece in the great puzzle of La Nucía City of Sports,” stated La Nucía Mayor, Bernabé Cano, emphasizing the importance of the center and the Games. Antonio Moreno, president of the Spanish Karate Federation representing ADESP, echoed this sentiment, noting the potential strength of a unified front: “If we added our licenses…we would probably form one of the largest sports families in Spain.”
The inauguration coincided with the launch of the inaugural National Combat Sports Games, a nine-day competition featuring ten different events – including Spanish Championships and Spanish Cups – across two multi-sports pavilions in La Nucía. The Games, running from November 8th to 16th,are free and open to the public.
