‘La Manada’ Podcast Faces Restructuring After Infidelity Scandal
Podcast ‘La Manada’ Faces Reassessment Following Host’s Infidelity Scandal
The popular Peruvian podcast ‘La Manada’ is undergoing a period of significant change following revelations of an extramarital affair involving one of its hosts, Mario Irivarren, while on a trip to Argentina. The scandal has prompted the program’s co-host, Laura Spoya, to announce a comprehensive reevaluation of the display’s content and structure.
The controversy erupted after reports surfaced of Irivarren being photographed with another woman in Buenos Aires, leading to accusations of infidelity against his partner, Onelia Molina. The incident quickly gained traction in Peruvian media, prompting a response from Spoya and the production team at Satélite.
“After a reflective weekend, and many meetings with the Satélite team, we’ve been considering the future – the present, really – of ‘La Manada’,” Spoya stated, according to reporting by Trome. “With complete transparency, we’ve decided to commence a process of complete restructuring of this program.”
Scope of the Restructuring
Spoya indicated that the restructuring will encompass a thorough review of the podcast’s content, format, and team composition. The aim is to address the fallout from the scandal and reposition the program, according to reports. The program intends to act with transparency towards its audience during this period of change.
Despite the upheaval, Satélite has confirmed that Irivarren will remain a part of ‘La Manada.’ Gerardo, another member of the show’s team, stated that there are no plans to alter the existing panel of hosts or the platform on which the podcast is broadcast. “He will continue with us, yes or yes. This table will not change, and we will not change channels either,” Gerardo said, as reported by Trome.
Irivarren’s Absence and Travel to Colombia
Irivarren has been absent from recent episodes of ‘La Manada,’ and was observed at the Jorge Chávez International Airport shortly after the scandal broke. According to migration records, Irivarren traveled to Colombia on March 18th, temporarily distancing himself from the podcast. This move followed Irivarren’s public acknowledgement of shortcomings in his relationship and acceptance of responsibility for the situation.
The situation has drawn criticism from media personality Magaly Medina, who questioned the integrity of content creators like Spoya and Irivarren. In a segment on her program ‘Magaly TV La Firme,’ Medina accused them of lacking substance and failing to demonstrate public accountability, according to La República.
“They are hollow, they have nothing to show, to teach, to say. Their discourse is full of nonsense and supposedly they are funny… they vulgarize all language. Now, with their attitudes, people have been left with doubts,” Medina stated.
‘La Manada’ now enters a period of transition as it navigates the controversy and seeks to regain the trust of its audience.
