Buc-eeS Falls Short: Kwik Trip named America’s Favorite Convenience Store
despite a devoted Texas fanbase, Buc-ee’s isn’t the nation’s top-rated convenience store, according to the 2025 American customer Satisfaction Index (ACSI). A Wisconsin-based chain, Kwik Trip, has earned the No. 1 spot.
The ACSI, a nationally recognized benchmark of customer satisfaction across various industries, surveyed over 300,000 consumers regarding more than 400 companies. The 2025 ACSI Convenience Store Study, based on 8,601 surveys, reveals overall industry satisfaction remains steady at 76 out of 100 – the same as the previous year.
Kwik Trip led the rankings with a score of 84, demonstrating an impressive 8% enhancement. Pennsylvania’s Wawa and Sheetz tied for second place, with Sheetz showing a 4% gain and Wawa experiencing no significant change. QuikTrip of Oklahoma secured the fourth position.
Buc-ee’s tied for fifth place with Love’s,both receiving a score of 79. This represents a 1% decline for Buc-ee’s. though, when considering regional preferences, Buc-ee’s tied with Sheetz for the No. 2 spot in the South, both scoring 81, just behind Wawa’s 82.
The study also highlights evolving customer priorities.While cleanliness and low prices were traditionally paramount,the 2025 data indicates a growing emphasis on mobile app functionality.
Currently, 34% of convenience store customers utilize store-specific mobile apps, a figure that jumps to 60% among loyalty program members.Consequently, benchmarks related to mobile app experience have improved by 3% to 4% in 2024. Though adoption is slower than in the fast-service restaurant and travel sectors, mobile app usage is steadily increasing.
Demand for made-to-order food is also rising, perhaps positioning convenience stores as competitors to fast-food chains. Traditional factors like convenient hours, location, beverage quality, and checkout speed remain important drivers of customer satisfaction.
Notably, customer satisfaction scores increase across all benchmarks for those enrolled in loyalty programs.
