KT Wiz: ‘Immortal Song’ Winner Lim Jun-hyung Shines in Spring Camp

KT Wiz pitcher Lim Jun-hyung is experiencing a surge in confidence and mentorship opportunities following his victory on the KBS2 program “Immortal Songs” and a positive spring training camp, according to reports from the team’s training facility in Geelong, Australia.

Lim, who secured the win on the January 17th broadcast of “Immortal Songs,” performing the KT Wiz cheer song “Magic Castle,” has been actively engaging with senior players at spring camp, both seeking and offering advice. The program, a revival of the earlier “Immortal Songs” series, pits singers against each other in reinterpreted performances, as reported by Wikipedia.

Ko Young-pyo and Bae Seong-seong, veteran pitchers, have been particularly involved in mentoring Lim and fellow left-hander Kwon Seong-jun. Lim and Kwon sought guidance from the pair on pitching mechanics and mental preparation following a live pitching session on February 13th. Notably, Lim then shared his own insights with junior teammate Kim Dong-hyun on maintaining optimal condition, fostering a reciprocal learning environment within the team.

“Go Young-pyo and Bae Seong-seong look at me in detail,” Lim Jun-hyung stated, as reported by OSEN. “Thanks to their accurate advice, I understand and become more confident when I hear feedback. At the beginning of the camp, I was putting in a lot of effort but couldn’t get the ball I wanted. Je-seong hyung told me, ‘You have to do your movements in the right order so the ball goes out better,’ and I’m working on my pitching form by organizing the sequence once again.”

Lim joined the KT Wiz through a trade with the LG Twins in June 2025, after being originally drafted by LG in the 8th round of the 2019 rookie draft. While his 2025 season yielded a 5.19 ERA across 10 games with no decisions, team management and senior players are optimistic about his potential to bolster the left-handed bullpen alongside Jeon Yong-joo. His recent success on “Immortal Songs” has further elevated his profile within the organization.

Kwon Seong-jun, another left-handed pitcher, echoed the positive impact of the mentorship program. “I was greedy because it was my first live pitching,” Kwon said, according to OSEN. “I pitched with the intention of catching Kim Min-hyuk unconditionally, but my balance was lost. I asked Go Young-pyo how I should improve my mentality on the mound. I am grateful that I was able to find my way thanks to your advice.”

Ko Young-pyo, head of the pitching team, emphasized the importance of a supportive team culture. “Ever since I joined the team, I wanted to create a culture where the pitchers take care of even the smallest things, such as their condition and well-being,” he stated. “Rather than giving instructions to the young pitchers, we endeavor to suggest good directions based on mutual respect. I think this kind of culture will facilitate us survive the season and have a big impact on the pitchers’ power.” Bae Seong added that the growth of younger players is essential for overall team success, noting that he frequently discusses baseball strategy with the late Youngpyo.
