KPop Demon Hunters: Mattel Lets Fans Choose Next Doll
Mattel will allow fans to vote on which character from Netflix’s animated musical film, “KPop Demon Hunters,” will be immortalized as a new doll in the Mattel Creations line, the toy manufacturer announced this week.
The move comes as Netflix and Mattel forge an unprecedented co-master toy licensing agreement for the property, alongside a similar deal with Hasbro. Products from both companies are slated to arrive at retail locations in spring 2026, according to Netflix.
The dual co-master license structure is considered unusual in the toy industry, signaling Netflix’s confidence in the potential for “KPop Demon Hunters” merchandise. Mattel’s product line will encompass dolls, action figures, accessories, collectibles, and playsets, as well as potential collaborations with other brands. Hasbro will also develop a range of toys and games based on the film.
“KPop Demon Hunters” debuted as an animated musical on Netflix and quickly gained traction with audiences. The film’s success prompted Netflix to seek broad licensing partnerships to capitalize on the franchise’s popularity.
The collaboration between Netflix and Mattel extends beyond traditional toy offerings. Both companies are exploring opportunities to integrate the “KPop Demon Hunters” brand into various product categories, aiming to reach fans of all ages.
Netflix anticipates that the merchandise will allow fans to “drink up the characters, music and world of the film in new and fun ways,” according to a company statement. The fan vote for the next doll is currently underway on Mattel’s website.
