Korra Energi Secures EGP 5bn in New Contracts in H1 2026

August 20, 2026 Lucas Fernandez – World Editor World

Korra Energi secured new contracts worth EGP 5bn during the first half of 2026, marking a substantial increase from EGP 1.1bn during the same period in 2025. According to financial results released on Wednesday, the company expanded its project backlog to approximately EGP 15.7bn while simultaneously driving higher gross profit margins and adjusted net income amid ongoing regional market shifts.

Financial Growth and Backlog Expansion in H1 2026

The firm reported total revenues of EGP 3.2bn for the first half of 2026. Gross profit climbed 8.5% year-on-year to reach EGP 665m. This growth elevated the overall gross profit margin to 20.5%, improving upon the 17.2% recorded in the first half of 2025.

Operational momentum centered heavily on the energy division, which posted a gross profit margin of 22.5%, up from 17.5% a year earlier. Gross profit for this specific segment increased by 9.8% to EGP 601m, compared to EGP 547m in H1 2025. Adjusted net income, which excludes foreign exchange gains and losses, rose 12.2% year-on-year to EGP 146m.

These financial markers were achieved despite sustained headwinds. The company noted that higher fuel and energy costs, exchange-rate fluctuations, and geopolitical tensions continued to impact regional markets throughout the reporting period.

Diversification Across Transmission, Industrial, and Regional Projects

Korra broadened its operational footprint both geographically and sectorally during the six-month window. Outside of Egypt, the company established a new branch in Saudi Arabia, marking its second international market following operations in Iraq.

Domestically, the company secured a transmission and distribution contract to connect wind power generation plants in the Gulf of Suez directly to Egypt’s national electricity grid. This project represents the firm’s first venture into the T&D segment.

Additional contracts awarded during the period include execution work for the Yazaki Egypt factory in Fayoum Governorate, designated to manufacture automotive electrical systems and wiring harnesses. Korra also took on work for the Gennvax pharmaceutical and vaccine manufacturing facility located within the Suez Canal Economic Zone.

Beyond traditional engineering and energy operations, the enterprise recorded a 33.6% increase in agricultural exports, fueled largely by expansion in its frozen strawberry operations.

Capital Restructuring and Future Outlook

To support its expanding contract pipeline, Korra sought regulatory backing for capital restructuring. Egypt’s Financial Regulatory Authority approved a capital increase that raises the company’s issued and paid-up capital to EGP 855m, while its authorized ceiling climbs from EGP 2.25bn to EGP 4.25bn.

Korra stated that it will maintain active oversight of shifting economic and geopolitical indicators. The firm’s operational strategy remains anchored in disciplined contract execution, proactive risk mitigation, and structural diversification across its core energy, industrial, and agricultural divisions.
