Cruzeiro adds Ecuadorian Winger Keny Arroyo to Roster
Belo Horizonte, Brazil – Cruzeiro is set to add Ecuadorian winger Keny Arroyo to its squad, with the player arriving in Belo Horizonte to undergo medical examinations and finalize his contract, the club confirmed Monday. Arroyo, 22, arrives with a clear mission: to contribute to winning titles for the Brazilian club.
“Very happy to be able to play at Cruzeiro, a very big team. What I come to do is do the best of myself so you can win titles,” Arroyo stated upon the announcement of negotiations. The signing addresses a request from coach Leonardo Jardim for attacking reinforcements.
Arroyo developed through Independiente del Valle, making one appearance in 2023 before a breakout season in 2024 with 38 games played, four goals, and eight assists. He then joined Beşiktaş for the 2024/25 season, where he made 14 appearances and scored twice, failing to establish himself as a consistent starter. Arroyo has also featured twice for the Ecuadorian national team in 2024 World Cup qualifying matches, against Argentina and Bolivia.
The Ecuadorian joins Cruzeiro as one of four reinforcements during the current transfer window. The club has already secured right-back Kauã Moraes from Athletico-PR for a reported $10 million, midfielder Ryan Guilherme from Fortaleza, and forward Luis Sinisterra on loan from Bournemouth. Sinisterra made his debut in a 1-0 victory over São paulo on August 30th. Arroyo, a left-footed player, is expected to primarily play on the right wing, utilizing his dribbling and speed. The transfer window closes on Tuesday, September 2nd.
