Konami Extends Partnership With French Football Federation
Konami and the French Football Federation have agreed to a multi-year partnership extension, keeping the Japanese video game developer as the official football video game partner of the French national team through the eFootball franchise. The renewed agreement maintains Konami’s access to various commercial, imagery, and activation rights tied to the national squad.
Under the terms of the updated deal, the French Football Federation will remain embedded within selected esports events alongside other licensed national associations.
Konami Digital Entertainmentβs European president, Shinji Namekawa, noted the significance of the agreement in a statement released alongside the announcement. βFranceβs rich football heritage and global prestige make this a highly valuable collaboration,β Namekawa said, pointing to the platform’s user growth.
The partnership originally began in 2022. The renewal secures continued digital likeness representation for French players within the developer’s soccer portfolio, which spans several major European sides.
Portfolio Expansion and Club Licensing
The French national team agreement sits alongside a broader roster of licensing deals held by the developer across European football. Konami maintains digital rights partnerships with AC Milan, Arsenal, Barcelona, Borussia Dortmund, Inter Milan, and Manchester United.
Domestically in Japan, the company also holds licensing agreements with the top-flight J.League.
The multi-year continuation ensures that the French Football Federation’s branding and digital assets will continue to feature in upcoming updates and esports tournaments hosted on the eFootball platform.
