Kocaer Çelik announces $750 Million Investment in Green Steel Production
Aliağa, İzmir, Türkiye – Kocaer Çelik, a leading Turkish steel profile manufacturer with over 60 years of history, has unveiled plans for a significant $750 million investment in both the energy and steel sectors. The enterprising project, detailed in a recent interview with The Economist, will result in the construction of a 1 million ton capacity “green steel house” and a new 500 thousand ton steel profile factory.
Currently operating out of integrated facilities spanning 300,000 square meters in Aliağa, İzmir, Kocaer Çelik boasts an annual production capacity of 800,000 tons of steel profile. The company also operates a 180,000-ton steel service center and a 100,000-ton galvanized factory. Demonstrating a commitment to sustainability, Kocaer Çelik currently sources approximately one-third of its electricity needs from on-site solar power generation (GES) across its five facilities.
