Kit Wilson Intentionally Created a Catchy Theme Song, adn Was Heavily Involved in Its Creation
Kit Wilson, now performing as a singles competitor on SmackDown, has revealed that the incredibly catchy nature of his new theme song was entirely intentional. Speaking on INSIGHT with Chris Van Vliet, Wilson explained he actively pushed for new music when he anticipated going solo and ultimately played a significant role in its development.
He didn’t just hope for a catchy tune – he aimed for it. “Yeah, it’s super catchy. That was what I was going for,” Wilson stated. “That was what I was hoping for. I didn’t think I realized how catchy it was going to be, and how much it’s kind of clicked on and sat with people, but I’m not complaining.“
Wilson proactively contacted WWE music producer Neil and sent a detailed email outlining his vision, complete with musical references and lyrical ideas. He specifically requested the song open with a phone call – a trend he noticed in modern pop music, wanting the intro to feature someone asking, “Hey Kit, are you there?“.
His influences were diverse, ranging from artists like Charli xcx, Billie Eilish, Chappell Roan, BLACKPINK’s JENNIE, Harry Styles, and The 1975. He even drew inspiration from Pretty Deadly’s indie theme and UK pop artists like Jade from Little Mix.
After multiple revisions, Wilson believes the final product perfectly embodies his personality and is proving to be a key element in establishing his identity as a singles star, strengthening his connection with the audience and differentiating him from his time as part of a tag team.
