King Charles Jokes About Body Parts ‘Working worse’ After 70 During Hospital Visit

BIRMINGHAM, ENGLAND – king Charles III shared a candid observation about aging during a hospital visit in Birmingham on Wednesday, telling a patient that “the body parts work worse when you have passed 70.” the remark came during a conversation with 85-year-old Jacqueline Page, who told the King she “is being worn out.”

The exchange offers a rare glimpse into the King’s personal reflections on health and aging, notably poignant given his recent cancer diagnosis and treatment. Charles, 76, has been publicly visible during his recovery, using engagements like this hospital visit to connect with the public and demonstrate his continued commitment to royal duties.

Page recounted a previous encounter with then-Prince Charles in the 1970s, recalling he arrived at an event “in a helicopter, went straight to my parents and shook their hands.” Charles responded, “It was a bit lucky, right?” Page added she hadn’t been able to speak to him at the time, expressing her joy at finaly having a conversation decades later.

The King reminisced about flying helicopters in the fleet he left in 1976, stating he could “still remember how to fly it.” He also expressed his happiness at the possibility to reconnect with Page after so many years, joking, “A little scary, right?”

Charles also spoke with 73-year-old Matthew Shinda, who is undergoing treatment for prostate cancer. When Shinda wished him well in his recovery, the King replied, “I’m not feeling so bad.” Charles himself publicly revealed his cancer diagnosis in Febuary 2024 and has since been receiving treatment.
