Kinepolis Antwerp Delays Evening Showings Due to Traffic Congestion
Antwerp’s Kinepolis cinema has begun adjusting its evening film schedules to accommodate significant traffic congestion in and around the city, with some screenings now starting as late as 9:00 PM on weekdays. The change, implemented on March 21, 2026, aims to provide patrons with more time to reach the cinema without the stress of navigating peak-hour traffic, according to reports from multiple Flemish news outlets.
The decision to alter the evening program was prompted by “persistent traffic congestion in and around Antwerp,” as stated by Kinepolis representatives in a press release reported by Gazet van Antwerpen. The cinema is temporarily delaying several weekday showings to allow moviegoers to arrive without feeling rushed. Het Nieuwsblad reported a similar adjustment on March 20, 2026, emphasizing the goal of a less stressful experience for customers.
Kinepolis Antwerpen, a fully laser-projected cinema, plays a significant role in the city’s cultural and economic life, according to Kinepolis Belgium. The adjustments are likewise being made in consideration of ongoing roadworks in the vicinity of the cinema, as noted by VRT NWS. “We are coordinating this with the roadworks in the area,” a Kinepolis spokesperson stated.
The cinema, located on Groenendaallaan, 394, continues to offer a full film program, including trailers, reviews, and previews, accessible through its website and other platforms. The schedule adjustments are currently limited to evening showings on weekdays, with no indication of changes to weekend or matinee times.
