St. Lucia – Kieron Pollard,at the age of 38,shattered records in a Caribbean Premier League (CPL) match on September 7,2025,scoring a half-century off just 17 balls while playing for the Trinbago Knight Riders against the Guyana Amazon Warriors.Despite his explosive innings, the Knight Riders ultimately fell to a five-wicket defeat.
PollardS blistering knock is now the fastest fifty in CPL history, surpassing previous records held by Andre Russell (14 balls in 2021), Jean-Paul Duminy (15 balls in 2019), and Ein Leese (17 balls in 2019). He equaled the 17-ball record with David Miller (2024) before claiming it outright. The innings came during a crucial stage of the match, with the Knight Riders aiming to set a competitive total.
The match saw the Warriors lose two early wickets, but a resilient partnership between Shay Hope and Shimron Hetmyer kept their hopes alive. Hetmyer was eventually dismissed for 49 off 30 balls,followed by Hope,who contributed 53 off 46 balls. Ultimately, it was Dwaine Pretorius who steered the Warriors to victory, finishing with 26 not out off 14 balls.
