Kid Rock Defends $5K Tickets & Faces Backlash Over Pricing Claims

Country music star Kid Rock defended his concert ticket pricing structure Friday, responding to reports that front-row seats for his upcoming “Freedom 250 Tour” are being sold for $5,000. In a post on X, formerly Twitter, Kid Rock acknowledged the price point but characterized it as limited to a small number of “First Class” seats.

“Here we go again,” he wrote. “The fake liberal media says I’m charging $5,000 for front-row tickets. They know damn well that’s not the full story.”

Kid Rock explained that the $5,000 price tag applies to only four seats per row in the first five rows of each venue – a total of 20 “first class” seats in venues holding between 15,000 and 25,000 people. Prices decrease incrementally for subsequent rows, with seats in the second row listed at $4,000, the third at $3,000, the fourth at $2,000, and the fifth at $1,000, according to his post. He also stated that lawn seats are available for as little as $50.

The singer accused the media of twisting the facts to attack him, stating, “But instead of reporting facts or that lawn seats are only 50 bucks or how we are cutting out the scalpers, they twist it for the headlines/clicks to attack me — nothing new here.”

The pricing structure has drawn criticism online, with many users pointing out the apparent contradiction between Kid Rock’s statements and his actual ticket prices. Several responses to his X post highlighted that he was, in fact, charging $5,000 for front-row seats despite claiming reports to the contrary.

The controversy comes after Kid Rock testified before Congress earlier this year regarding ticket pricing and the practices of companies like Ticketmaster and Live Nation, advocating for measures to combat scalping and keep ticket costs down, according to reporting from NME. He has also taken steps to limit scalping for his own shows, as reported by Taste of Country.

Despite these efforts, premium seats for the “Freedom 250 Tour” remain significantly expensive. According to Ticketmaster, standard tickets range from $50 to $500. The tour kicks off May 1 in Dallas, Texas, with stops planned in Raleigh, Charlotte, St. Louis, Tampa, and other cities before concluding June 20 in Burgettstown, Pennsylvania.

Kid Rock will be joined on tour by Jon Pardi, Parker McCollum, Brantley Gilbert, Big & Rich, and The Dirty Roses.
