Kid Rock announces Christian album Halfway to Jesus featuring Eminem
Kid Rock has announced a new 17-song Christian music album titled Halfway to Jesus, alongside the release of its lead single “James 1:17 (Jesus Is King),” consequence.net reported. The upcoming LP, scheduled for an October 17th release, features notable collaborations including a guest appearance by fellow Detroit-born artist Eminem on the track “7 Sins,” as well as contributions from country singers Gary LeVox and Jimmie Allen on the song “Halfway 2 Jesus.”
Halfway to Jesus Tracklist and Collaborations
The 17-track project blends rock, country, and hip-hop influences centered around themes of faith. The tracklist opens with “Freedom” and runs through songs such as “Water into Wine,” “Me and Jesus,” and “Into the Setting Sun.” Eminem features on track three, “7 Sins,” while Rascal Flatts singer Gary LeVox and Jimmie Allen appear on track six. The album concludes with a cover of Lee Greenwood’s anthem “God Bless the USA.”
The single “James 1:17 (Jesus Is King)” shares a strong musical resemblance to Kenny Rogers’ 1978 hit “The Gambler,” though it remains unconfirmed whether the similarity is an intentional homage. The album artwork displays Kid Rock positioned halfway to Jesus with the devil standing at his back.
Detroit Roots and Musical Influences Behind the Album
Kid Rock explained the origins of the project during an August appearance on Fox & Friends. He noted that while he found some appealing music, much of it felt tied to a darker place. Consequently, he decided to write his own songs celebrating his faith using rock, country, and hip-hop.
The lead single and its accompanying music video are currently available ahead of the full album’s October 17th release date.
