Orlando Pirates Seals Amstel Sponsorship in Glitzy Ceremony

Club Chairman Highlights Legacy and Experience in New Partnership

Orlando Pirates has officially welcomed Amstel as its new sponsor, a move celebrated with a lavish event at Orlando Stadium. Chairman Irvin “Iron Duke” Khoza emphasized the shared values of experience and strong brand legacies as key drivers for the collaboration.

A Night of Stars and Celebration

The sponsorship announcement was a star-studded affair, featuring acclaimed music artists Sjava and Bucie who provided entertainment. The event was attended by notable figures, including Pirates legends Edward “Magents” Motale and Happy Jele, underscoring the club’s rich history.

“There are two elements that we are sharing between ourselves and Amstel… providing experience and maintaining legacies. Amstel, I can tell you, this club is strong on loyalty… if you look at all our sponsorships, they’ve gone past 30 years now… with Adidas, Vodacom, we’ve been together for 30 years.”

Khoza acknowledged the efforts of his sons, Mpumi and Nkosana Khoza, in successfully negotiating the agreement with the prominent Dutch brewery. This new partnership replaces Carling Black Label as the club’s beer sponsor.

The sports sponsorship market continues to grow, with global spending on sponsorships expected to reach $60 billion in 2024, demonstrating the significant commercial appeal of major clubs like Orlando Pirates (IEG, 2024).
