Kevin Spacey: Sexual Assault Claims Settled Out of Court in London

March 20, 2026 Julia Evans – Entertainment Editor Entertainment

Actor Kevin Spacey has reached confidential settlements with three British men who had filed civil lawsuits accusing him of sexual assault, averting a trial scheduled for later this year. A court order made public on Wednesday confirmed the agreement, bringing an end to the civil claims stemming from alleged incidents between 2000 and 2013.

The High Court order, dated March 13, stated that all further proceedings against Spacey in these actions have been stayed, contingent upon the terms of the confidential settlement. Judge Christina Lambert issued the order, but details of the financial arrangements or other conditions were not disclosed. Representatives for Spacey did not immediately respond to requests for comment and a spokesperson for the claimants’ legal team similarly declined to comment.

Two of the claimants had previously given evidence during Spacey’s 2023 criminal trial in London, where he was acquitted of nine sexual offense charges involving four men. The civil lawsuits represented a continuation of the allegations that first surfaced in 2017, derailing a career that had previously garnered critical acclaim and numerous awards.

One of the claimants, identified only as LNP, alleged approximately twelve instances of assault between 2000 and 2005. Another, GHI, claimed he experienced psychiatric damage and financial loss following an alleged assault at London’s Old Vic theatre in 2008, where Spacey served as artistic director from 2004 to 2013. The third claimant, Ruari Cannon, publicly waived his right to anonymity. Cannon had participated in a 2024 Channel 4 documentary, “Spacey Unmasked,” and alleged that Spacey groped him at a party following a performance of “Sweet Bird of Youth” at the Old Vic in 2013.

Spacey, 66, has consistently denied all allegations of sexual misconduct, maintaining that the incidents described by the claimants either did not occur or were consensual. He previously defended himself against a $40 million civil lawsuit in New York brought by actor Anthony Rapp in 2022, successfully avoiding a financial judgment.

The settlements come after a hearing earlier this month where the claimants’ lawyers sought to introduce evidence from seven additional witnesses alleging similar abusive behavior. It was revealed during that hearing that Cannon had already reached a separate settlement with the Old Vic theatre.

Spacey’s career had been significantly impacted by the allegations, leading to his removal from the TV drama “House of Cards” and the film “All the Money in the World.” He won Academy Awards for his performances in “American Beauty” (1999) and “The Usual Suspects” (1995).
