Keselyű Series Debuts on TV2 With Serial Killer Plot, Femcafe Says
The TV2 mini-series Keselyű debuted on October 17, achieving immediate great success after originally being developed with the National Film Institute before it decided against supporting the finished project, Femcafe reported. Executive producer Czeglédi Zoltán disclosed that the psychological thriller about a morning radio host targeted by a serial killer was developed under the state body before funding was withdrawn.
Herman Péter Secures Budget After Official Funding Withdrawal
Development on the project began at the Nemzeti Filmintézet, where officials ultimately decided against financing the production. Following the funding withdrawal, creative producer Herman Péter stepped in to assemble the necessary budget through TV2 and private backers, enabling production to move forward.
Czeglédi managed physical production across a tight 34-day shooting schedule. The production worked through cold weather conditions with director Kovács István, with whom the executive producer shares a long-standing professional relationship. The team finalized casting choices collaboratively, bringing in Junior Prima Award winner Dér Zsolt to star as morning radio host Szigethy Zalán and Jankovics Péter to portray the antagonist Keselyű Barnabás.
Hungarian Poetry Features in Thriller About Radio Personality
The narrative centers on a radio personality whose personal and professional life unravels when a killer contacts him on live air using classic Hungarian poetry. Zsigmond Emőke stars as Adél, alongside supporting cast members Sztarenki Dóra, Szőke Abigél, and Galambos Péter as radio colleagues.
Reflecting on the final product, Czeglédi noted the unique inclusion of poetry within a television thriller framework, a choice carried over from the source material. Looking ahead, the producer plans to develop Scandinavian-style crime projects with the same core creative team.
