Kenrich Williams Basketball Camp: NBA Star Gives Back in Waco

NBA Champion Kenrich Williams Brings Larry O’Brien Trophy to Hometown Basketball Camp

WACO, Texas – University High School buzzed with excitement as Trojan alum and Oklahoma City Thunder forward Kenrich Williams returned to host his annual “For The Citybasketball camp. This yearS event saw a significant increase in participation, with approximately 500 young athletes from third to eighth grade attending, nearly double last year’s numbers.

Williams, fresh off an NBA Championship victory, shared his enthusiasm for bringing the prestigious Larry O’Brien trophy to his alma mater. “Having it here in my hometown at my High School, it’s a really good feeling and I’m excited to see the kids faces when they see that,” Williams stated, highlighting the personal significance of the event.

The camp, which is free for participants, underscores Williams’ commitment to giving back to his community. “When you make it to a certain level you’re supposed to give back in the level that we’re on playing professional like I said we didn’t have any of this growing up so why not kind of be the first to do it here in the city,” he explained, emphasizing the importance of providing opportunities he lacked as a youth.

When asked about potential future NBA stars among the campers,Williams playfully pointed to his young daughter and the aspiring athletes around him. “You never know, so, It might very well be anybody in here. It might very well be anybody,” he remarked, fostering a sense of possibility for all attendees.
