Kenny Omega AEW Revolution: Will He Appear Despite Japan Commitment?

February 22, 2026 Alex Carter - Sports Editor Sport

Kenny Omega’s participation in AEW Revolution on March 15 remains uncertain as he attempts to finalize a travel arrangement that would allow him to appear at the pay-per-view despite a prior commitment to a major video game tournament in Tokyo.

Omega is currently scheduled to be in Japan for Capcom Cup 2026, an annual “Street Fighter” tournament held at Sumo Hall from March 11 to March 15, according to reports from both F4WOnline and ewrestlingnews.com. The scheduling conflict prompted AEW to move a planned match between Omega and Swerve Strickland to a recent episode of Dynamite, where Strickland secured a victory and subsequently turned heel.

Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter reported that Omega is actively negotiating to secure a release from his commitment in Japan on March 14, enabling him to travel back to the United States in time for Revolution, which is scheduled to take place in Los Angeles at the Crypto.com Arena. However, as of February 22, 2026, Omega’s presence at the event is not guaranteed.

Sources indicate Omega has expressed a desire to avoid being advertised for Revolution if his appearance is not confirmed, fearing fan disappointment should he be unable to develop the present. This cautious approach reflects a desire to manage expectations given the logistical challenges of international travel and contractual obligations.

The Revolution card is currently headlined by a match between MJF and Hangman Page for the AEW World Championship. Recent storylines have seen Omega attempting to position himself for another opportunity at the title, but he has also publicly stated his belief that AEW should prioritize long-term development, according to reports.

Capcom Cup 12, the tournament causing the scheduling issue, is a significant event in the competitive “Street Fighter” community, drawing substantial attention and participation. Omega’s role as special guest host at the event, as reported by cultaholic.com, adds another layer to the complexity of resolving the scheduling conflict.
