Kendrick Lamar Movie Delay: “South Park” Film Release Pushed Back

Kendrick Lamar & “South Park” Creators’ Film Pushed Back Indefinitely

LOS ANGELES, CA – Paramount pictures has indefinitely delayed the highly anticipated live-action comedy film co-created by Kendrick Lamar and the creators of “South Park,” Trey Parker and Matt Stone. The project, first announced in 2022, has seen its release date shifted multiple times, most recently from a planned March 20, 2026, launch.

The delay impacts fans eager for the unique crossover between Lamar’s musical artistry and the satirical humor of Parker and Stone. The film represents a significant collaboration across entertainment mediums, drawing considerable attention sence its inception. While no new release date has been set, a joint statement indicates continued work on the project.

The untitled comedy was initially slated for release in July 4,2025,before being moved too March 2026. According to a statement released through Park County production studio and K. Dot’s pgLang creative agency, “It’s true – we’re moving (again). We’re working hard at finishing the movie.”

Comedian vernon Chatman penned the script, with Lamar, Dave Free, Parker, and Stone serving as producers. The delay comes as both lamar and “South Park” remain active in their respective fields. Lamar recently earned nine Grammy Award nominations, including Album of the Year for GNX, released in 2024, following the critically acclaimed Mr. Morale & The Big Steppers in 2022. “south Park” launched its 28th season in October.

The project gained initial traction following the declaration on January 13, 2022, as reported by Rap-Up. Despite Lamar’s increased musical profile and a highly publicized feud with Drake in 2023,which culminated in a Super Bowl LIX performance,the film remains unfinished. Variety first reported the indefinite delay on February 28,2025.
