Kelowna Skating Rink Opens with Food Drive & Toy Donations

Stuart Park Ice Rink opens wednesday,‌ Encouraging Donations ⁤for Local Charities

KELOWNA, BC ⁢ – Kelowna‘s beloved outdoor ice ​rink at Stuart Park is set to open to the public Wednesday morning, weather ​permitting, kicking off the winter ⁢skating season and a charitable drive to support those in ‍need. The opening event invites residents⁢ to ​celebrate a Kelowna winter tradition while contributing to the Central Okanagan Food Bank and The ⁣Salvation Army with donations of non-perishable food items or new, unwrapped toys.

The rink’s annual opening is a significant community event,offering free outdoor recreation for families and individuals throughout the winter months. This year,the city is⁢ amplifying the rink’s positive ⁢impact by partnering with local charities as many families face increased financial pressures during the holiday season. Even a small contribution can provide⁤ vital support, according to ⁢Kelowna Mayor Tom Dyas, who stated, “This event ‌is a chance to⁢ enjoy one of Kelowna’s favorite winter traditions while helping our community…The holidays are a​ season of giving, even a small donation can make a ⁤meaningful difference for a family this season.”

For those wishing to donate but unable to skate, ⁢a drop-off​ zone will be⁤ available beside the rink on Water Street. Skates will be available⁣ for rent on-site ⁣daily from ‍11 a.m. to ​8 p.m., with the exception of december ⁣25. Rentals are cash only. Visitors are reminded to adhere to posted rink regulations and are strongly encouraged to wear helmets for safety.
