“I’m very appreciative of the owner (Matthew Benham), the board and the staff that have supported this decision. It’s an opportunity I feel I’m very capable of doing and ready to do,”
—Keith Andrews, New Brentford Head Coach
Premier League clubs often experience these kinds of managerial changes. In fact, the average tenure for a Premier League manager is only about 1.5 years (Sporting News, 2024).
Past Experience
Andrews, 44, began his playing career at Wolves. He also played in more than 70 games for both MK Dons and Blackburn. Additionally, he earned 35 caps for the Republic of Ireland, representing them at Euro 2012.
Phil Giles, Brentford’s director of football, noted that Andrews is a very good fit. He is also “clear in what he wants” and “a learner.” Giles is optimistic that Andrews will bring his own ideas but not start from scratch, fostering quick progress.
In the long run, the appointment is expected to help Brentford to improve beyond its current status.
