Kantishna, alaska – October 30, 2025 – A moderate earthquake struck central Alaska at 3:33:24 AM AKDT (11:33:24 UTC), registering a magnitude of 1.9 on the local magnitude scale (Ml). the epicenter was located approximately 79 miles west of Denali National Park and 7.0 miles beneath the surface,according to data from the Alaska Earthquake Center.
While the quake was relatively small, its proximity to populated areas and the region’s susceptibility to seismic activity warrants attention. the event was felt across a wide area, including communities near Lake Minchumina (55 miles southeast), Telida (62 miles east), and Talkeetna (72 miles northwest).
