Setlist Decisions were Collaborative, But Not Without Conflict
Creating the setlist for the highly anticipated K3 reunion shows involved careful consideration of numerous factors, according to Miguel, a key figure in the production. “At some point you put all the puzzle pieces together, from the light and the decor to the flow of the show,” he explained.
The process wasn’t entirely harmonious.Gert Verhulst advocated strongly for the inclusion of a particular song, but ultimately, his preference was overruled. “There was a song that Gert verhulst really wanted, but he did not win that battle,” Miguel revealed.
Three Songs Cut From the Show
Ultimately, three songs were removed from consideration for the live performances. Billy Billy was deemed too obscure for a live rendition. miguel personally favored Scan, while Gert Verhulst championed Skirts, described as an ”illustrious K3 song.” Despite their efforts, neither song made the final cut. Miguel reiterated, “It is one of the few battles that he did not win.”
One Song Was an Easy Exclusion
While the selection process involved difficult choices,some songs were quickly dismissed. Miguel, who penned 248 songs for K3 over 23 years, admitted to not being proud of all his work. All Chinese was singled out as a song he definitively did not want to revisit. “My stomach is still about when I hear that number.It was just a day when the inspiration was very far away,” he stated.
