Xavier Trudeau, son of former Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, has spoken publicly about his encounters with Katy Perry, his father’s current partner, revealing the pop star offered him musical advice. The discussion took place in a recent interview with social media personality G Hobs, and was shared on TikTok and Instagram, according to multiple reports.
Xavier, who performs music under the moniker Xav, described Perry as “cool” and “nice,” stating they “talked for hours” about his music. “She gave me advice and next steps for me and stuff,” he said in the interview. He has been pursuing a career in R&B music, having been encouraged in his musical interests from a young age by both parents, with classes in drumming, guitar, and piano, according to E! News.
The conversation with Perry did not extend to her recent spaceflight aboard a Blue Origin rocket, Xavier confirmed. Perry participated in an all-female space voyage in June 2024, a trip that drew both attention and criticism.
Trudeau and Perry were first publicly linked in the summer of 2023, appearing together at a bistro in Montreal. They later made their relationship official in Paris. Perry has since shared photos of the former Prime Minister on her social media accounts, documenting their travels together. The relationship emerged after Trudeau and his wife, Sophie Grégoire Trudeau, announced their separation in August 2023.
Xavier also recounted meeting rapper Drake at a Toronto Raptors NBA championship parade in 2019 and again at Drake’s son’s birthday party, where Drake praised his music and offered guidance. The interview took place during a meal at McDonald’s, as part of a collaboration between the fast-food chain and Drake.
