Justin Bieber surprised fans with the release of Swag II in July, a swift follow-up to his previously released Swag album. The 23-track reissue expands upon the original 21 songs, arriving shortly after Bieber celebrated the first birthday of his son, Jack Blues Bieber, with wife Hailey Bieber.
swag II marks a continuation of Bieber’s recent lyrical openness, delving into themes of marriage and addressing past speculation regarding substance abuse. The album features collaborations with producers Mike Will Made it and Mk.gee,and builds on the success of Swag,which spawned top-20 singles including “Daisies” and “Yukon.” the release comes as Bieber considers future touring plans after cutting short his Justice World Tour in 2022 to focus on his health.On the opening track, “Speed Demon,” Bieber reflects on overcoming challenges: “They try to say I’m out of my mind / But now they singing every line,” he sings. “I got a lot of mountains to climb / Had to leave some beggars behind / and there’s something that’s stronger than me / That’s paving me a new lane and giving me an energy / And there’s something in the way she made me certain I’m enough / Everyday she put the loving on me / And all the people that be doubting on me / They gave me witness my redemption, now they up on my seat.”
Bieber dedicates several tracks to his wife,Hailey,including “I Do,” “Mother in You,” “Don’t wanna,” and a collaboration with Tems,”I Think You’re Special.” In “I Do,” he expresses his devotion: ”I do / I mean it when I say that I do / Nobody gets to touch you / I do / You’ll always be the one that I choose,” and adds, “[I’ve] never loved you more than I do right now.”
