Jusan Hamilton Fired: NASCAR Losing Key Competition Operations Leader

NASCAR announces Departure of Race Director Jusan Hamilton

DAYTONA BEACH, FL – NASCAR has parted ways with Jusan Hamilton, Managing Director of ⁢Competition Operations, effective immediately.⁢ The move comes mid-way through⁣ the 2025 NASCAR Cup ⁢Series Playoffs,⁤ during the ⁣second event of the “Round of 12” at Kansas Speedway, and with only five races​ remaining before the championship⁣ is decided.⁤

Hamilton’s departure marks a notable‍ shift in NASCAR’s ​leadership structure as the series prepares for a major overhaul with the 2026 schedule for‍ the Cup Series, the NASCAR O’Reilly Auto Parts Series, and the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series – schedules Hamilton played a key role in developing. While‌ NASCAR has not disclosed the‌ reasons ⁤for⁣ the change, the ⁣timing raises questions about ⁤the ongoing management of competition and⁣ potential impacts to the playoff conclusion. Tim Bearman, the other Race⁣ Director, will remain in his current role.

Hamilton joined NASCAR in ​2012 as a ⁢Racing Operations and Integrated Marketing Communications Intern. He transitioned ‍to an Account executive role within Integrated Marketing‌ Communications in July 2013.Over the next nine years, Hamilton steadily rose through the ranks, being ⁤promoted to ⁣Sr. Account⁣ Executive of Industry Operations in May 2014, then to Manager and Senior Director of Racing Operations ​and⁢ Event Management in July 2016. He assumed the position of Managing Director‌ of Competition Operations in September 2022, a role he held until his release.

NASCAR has not⁢ announced a replacement for Hamilton’s‍ position at this⁤ time. The association offered no further details regarding the circumstances surrounding his departure.
