Jurassic World: Liberation – Possible Title for Sequel Revealed

Domain name registrations potentially linked to a sequel to Universal Pictures’ “Jurassic World Rebirth” have surfaced, suggesting the working title “Jurassic World: Liberation.” The registrations, including jurassicworldliberation.movie and jurassicworldliberation.com, redirect to the franchise’s official website, jurassicworld.com.

“Jurassic World Rebirth,” directed by Gareth Edwards, was released last year and grossed over $869 million worldwide, becoming the sixth-highest-grossing film of 2025, according to Universal Pictures. The film received a nomination for a Visual Effects Oscar.

Reports emerged in November indicating Universal was planning a follow-up featuring returning stars Scarlett Johansson, Jonathan Bailey, and Mahershala Ali, with Edwards also expected to reprise his directorial role. A targeted release date of June 2028 was also mentioned in the initial report.

Although the domain registrations hint at a potential title, they could also serve as placeholders, according to industry observers. Universal Pictures has not yet officially confirmed the development of another installment in the “Jurassic World” franchise.

Johansson’s current filming commitments may impact production timelines. She is presently working on Mike Flanagan’s new “The Exorcist” film and is slated to appear in Matt Reeves’ “The Batman: Part II” following that project.

Edwards joined the “Jurassic World” project relatively late in the production cycle, inheriting a script already penned by David Koepp and established production and release schedules. Despite these constraints, “Rebirth” proved a significant box office success for Universal.
