Jordy Graat Named ‘Knoergoeie Brabander’ for 2026, Expresses Surprise
Uden, Netherlands – Jordy Graat, a familiar voice and face to many in Brabant as a presenter for Omroep Brabant, stadium announcer for PSV, and dedicated carnival enthusiast, has been selected as the “Knoergoeie Brabander” (Really Good Brabander) for 2026 by the Carnival Foundation De Knoerissen. The proclamation was made Monday via the foundation’s social media channels.
Graat, initially taken aback by the honor, recounted being asked to consider the title after being presented with a list of previous recipients – including Guus Meeuwis, Rob Scheepers, and Klaas Dijkhoff. “I have no idea,” he admitted recalling his initial response to the foundation. “My first reaction was ‘Why on earth are you coming to me?’ But it is indeed super sweet that they think of me,” he added. The annual award recognizes individuals who have made a meaningful contribution to the Brabant region.
The ”Knoergoeie Brabander” title is awarded annually by De Knoerissen to a person who embodies the spirit of Brabant and positively impacts the region.Graat’s selection acknowledges his diverse contributions to Brabant’s cultural landscape, from broadcasting and sports entertainment to his active participation in carnival festivities.
“I do what I like with carnival and everything around it. I entertain people, that is my hobby and I have made it my job,” Graat stated, adding that receiving the prize feels “a bit awkward” but ultimately “very special.”
Graat’s passion for entertainment began early,with an illegal radio station at age nine and DJing in clubs across the Netherlands by seventeen. He currently hosts radio shows and presents “3 Uurkes Vurraf” on Omroep Brabant. He will officially receive the title at a grand hearing evening on January 31st.
