Jon Yarbrough Caddies for Ben Griffin on PGA Tour

Jon Yarbrough Caddies for Ben Griffin on PGA Tour

October 30, 2026 Alex Carter - Sports Editor Sport

Jon Yarbrough, the veteran caddie who spent time working alongside Phil Mickelson on the LIV Golf circuit, has joined the bag of PGA Tour player Ben Griffin following Griffin’s split with his caddie of four years, Alex Ritthamel, golf.com reported.

The Split Between Griffin and Ritthamel

Griffin and Ritthamel parted ways despite a successful run that included three PGA Tour wins in 2025 alone, four career top 20 finishes in the majors, and Griffin’s ascent into the top 10 in the world. Their partnership was highlighted by Ritthamel’s efforts during the 2024 Genesis Invitational at Riviera, when Griffin’s clubs were left behind in Phoenix and Ritthamel drove six hours to collect them at the airport in time for a Tuesday practice round.

Incredible run with Alex, Griffin said Thursday from the VidantaWorld Mexico Open. Four and a half years — we changed each other’s lives. So it was a really tough decision honestly. All respect to Alex.

Griffin described the relationship as still friendly, noting that the timing simply felt right to make a switch on Tour.

Jon Yarbrough is the best green reader I’ve ever seen. I’m so excited to work with him and I’ve already learned a lot. https://t.co/06QsQmpyBa

Yarbrough Steps Onto Griffin’s Bag

Yarbrough arrives on Griffin’s bag after working with Mickelson, following Mickelson’s own high-profile changes that included parting ways with long-time caddie Jim “Bones” Mackay in 2021 and later employing Mickelson’s brother, Tim. Mickelson previously praised Yarbrough on social media as the best green reader I’ve ever seen. Griffin relied on that specific skill during the opening round of the VidantaWorld Mexico Open, where he shot a seven-under 64 to sit one shot off the lead held by Kensei Hirata.

Before his time with Mickelson, Yarbrough carried the bag for Scott Stallings and worked with professional golfers including Laura Diaz, Suzanne Pettersen, Morgan Pressel, Bill Haas, Gary Woodland, and Smylie Kaufman. Yarbrough also played collegiate golf at North Texas.
