Jon Lindstrom Reflects on Surprise ‘General Hospital‘ Return and Busy Creative Life
LOS ANGELES, CA – Jon Lindstrom’s recent return to General Hospital as kevin Collins was as unexpected for him as it was for viewers. The actor revealed he learned of the possibility through a casual conversation with former co-star Michele Val Jean, who advocated for his return to the network. “I was stunned,” Lindstrom shared,noting it’s been a long time since he’s had a role as compelling as Kevin - or his previous portrayal of Ryan Chamberlain.
Lindstrom’s return marks a important moment for both the actor and the long-running daytime drama. General Hospital consistently ranks among the most-watched soap operas, and the reintroduction of a popular character like Kevin Collins injects fresh energy into the show’s storylines. Beyond his GH work, Lindstrom is actively pursuing multiple creative endeavors, including a new book and a pilot hosting gig, demonstrating a continued dedication to his craft even after decades in the industry.
The character of Joey, a new role Lindstrom is currently playing on Beyond the Break, has drawn comparisons to a familiar GH face. During the General Hospital Emmy party, Maurice Benard remarked that Lindstrom’s new character is “the Sonny of the DMV,” a comparison Lindstrom playfully acknowledged, stating, “I think Joey has a much better sense of humor than Sonny Corinthos.”
Lindstrom expressed enthusiasm for the collaborative spirit on Beyond the break, emphasizing the excitement of building something new. ”One of the reasons I really love doing this show is as it’s new,” he said. “It’s because of that energy of everyone wanting it to work and be seen and enjoyed by a lot of people.” He also echoed Mick Jagger’s sentiment, adding, “Do what you love, it keeps you young… I get up every morning ready to go to work.”
Outside of acting, Lindstrom is preparing for the April 14, 2026, release of his next book, Hollywood Payback, and is hosting a pilot for The Bible on Trial. Despite his busy schedule, he remains open to future appearances on General Hospital. “It all comes down to scheduling,” Lindstrom explained. “I’ll do GH anytime. I just don’t know if we can work it out. I’m busier than I’ve ever been, and I thought I’d be retired by now!”
