Former WWE Star Johnny Dango Curtis Retires At TNA Genesis

Johnny Dango curtis, formerly known as⁤ Johnny Curtis in WWE,‍ announced his retirement from professional wrestling at ⁣TNA⁣ Genesis on January 6, ⁤2024. ‍The announcement⁢ came ⁢after his match against Michael Elgin, which he lost.

Curtis,38,began his wrestling career in 2005.He gained prominence in WWE⁤ as part of the⁤ NXT Season 3‍ cast, winning the inaugural ⁤NXT Championship in 2010. He was‍ later repackaged as Curtis axel, a second-generation wrestler (son of Mr. Perfect, Curt Hennig), ⁣and held the ‍intercontinental Championship once.

After his release from WWE in ⁢2020, Curtis continued wrestling on the⁤ independent circuit and ‍eventually signed with Impact Wrestling (TNA). He found⁤ success in Impact,⁣ becoming a one-time Impact ‍World Champion and a two-time X Division Champion.

During the match against Elgin, Curtis suffered an ⁤injury that he later revealed was a important factor in his decision to retire. He addressed the crowd after the match,thanking them for their support throughout his career and stating that it was time for him to move on to the next chapter of his⁤ life.
