John Goodman makes sad confession about Roseanne Barr relationship

Goodman Loses Touch With Barr, Unsure of Future Contact

Former on-screen couple hasn’t spoken in years following controversial exit.

John Goodman revealed he hasn’t spoken to his former “Roseanne” co-star, Roseanne Barr, for several years and expressed doubt about future contact, marking a definitive end to their once-close working relationship.

Distant Relationship

In a recent interview, Goodman, 73, stated, “We haven’t talked for about seven or eight years,” adding, “I’d rather doubt if she wants to talk to me.” Their bond was formed while playing husband and wife on the hit sitcom “Roseanne,” which originally aired from 1988 to 1997 and was revived for a tenth season in 2018.

The show’s revival was short-lived; plans for an 11th season were scrapped after Barr made a racist comparison about **Valerie Jarrett**, a former advisor to **President Barack Obama**. The fallout led to immediate cancellation.

Barr’s Controversial Statements

Barr‘s controversial tweet wasn’t her only offense; she also falsely claimed that **Chelsea Clinton** was married to **George Soros**’ nephew and that **Soros** was a Nazi sympathizer. The Anti-Defamation League has frequently debunked similar conspiracy theories involving **Soros** (ADL.org).

“Roseanne’s Twitter statement is abhorrent, repugnant and inconsistent with our values, and we have decided to cancel her show,” stated **Channing Dungey**, then President of ABC Entertainment.

Barr continues to defend her actions, bizarrely stating, “The way I feel about it is God told me to do what I did, and it was a nuclear bomb,” in a recent interview.

Life After Roseanne: “The Connors”

Following the cancellation, ABC created a spin-off, “The Connors,” featuring Goodman, **Laurie Metcalf**, **Sara Gilbert**, and other original cast members. The series addressed **Barr**’s absence by writing her character off as having died from a drug overdose.

Goodman confessed he was surprised by the longevity of “The Connors,” which concluded after seven seasons. Reflecting on his time with Barr, Goodman fondly recalled, “We hit it off from jump street. She made me laugh, and I made her laugh, and wow, it was so much fun.”

Barr has also confirmed her estrangement from her former colleagues. “No, I’m not friends with none of them. They’re all in the past,” she stated, adding, “We don’t talk.” Despite claiming not to harbor bitterness, she accused them of ruining everything with “their greed and ridiculous stupidity.”
