John Elway was involved in a fatal golf cart accident that claimed the life of his longtime agent, Jeff Sperbeck.
Sperbeck, who had represented Elway since 1990, passed away following the incident. Authorities have stated ther is no evidence to suggest Elway was intoxicated at the time of the crash, nor that the golf cart experienced any mechanical failure.
Reality television personality Johnny Bananas, whose real name is John Devenanzio, was reportedly a passenger in the golf cart with Elway during the accident. Reports indicate devenanzio attempted to provide aid to Sperbeck after the crash.
Elway, a former NFL quarterback, played his entire 16-season career with the Denver Broncos from 1983 to 1998, securing two Super Bowl victories.
Beyond their professional relationship, Elway and Sperbeck also partnered in business, launching their wine brand, 7Cellars, in 2015.
elway expressed his grief in a statement released on April 30. “I am absolutely devastated and heartbroken by the passing of my close freind, business partner and agent Jeff Sperbeck,” Elway stated. “there are no words to truly express the profound sadness I feel with the sudden loss of someone who has meant so much to me.” He extended his condolences to Sperbeck’s wife, Cori, his children Carly, Sam, and Jackson, and all who knew him, emphasizing sperbeck’s loyalty, wisdom, friendship, and love.
