brazilian Fighter Cachoeira to Face Joselyne Edwards After Securing Funding for Rehabilitation Center
Rising bantamweight contender Polyana “hurricane” Cachoeira (12-1) is scheduled to face Joselyne Edwards (6-1) in an upcoming UFC bout. This announcement follows Cachoeira’s recent first-round knockout victory over Josiane Nunes at UFC Vegas 104 on March 16,2024,at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas,Nevada.
Cachoeira’s extraordinary performance against Nunes, which ended in a devastating uppercut knockout at 1:06 of the first round, has propelled her towards the bantamweight Top 15 rankings. she is currently ranked #15 by UFC.com.

Having battled substance abuse earlier in her life, Cachoeira publicly appealed to UFC CEO Dana White during her post-fight interview following the Nunes victory, requesting a $50,000 bonus to fund the creation of a drug rehabilitation center in her hometown of Vila Velha, Espírito Santo, brazil.
White responded positively to Cachoeira’s request, and she has since successfully secured the necessary funds. The rehabilitation center, named “Projeto Furacão” (Hurricane Project), is slated to open in the second half of 2024 and will provide complete treatment for individuals struggling with drug and alcohol addiction, offering services including medical detoxification, individual and group therapy, and aftercare support. The facility will initially have capacity for 30 residents.
