Joe Freshgoods Shares Clearest Look Yet at New Balance 990v7
A pair of running shoes took an unannounced tour of Manhattan on the feet of brand ambassador Rosalía, offering the world its first real look at the upcoming New Balance 990v7.
Joe Freshgoods Debuts the 990v7 Online
Joe Freshgoods shared an Instagram story on October 12, 2026, featuring the upcoming New Balance 990v7 in what marks the clearest look yet at the latest model in the running and lifestyle series. The updated silhouette brings higher paneling, closer underlays, and a redesigned tooling system utilizing softer FuelCell foam.
Spotted on Rosalía in Manhattan
Before the digital preview, the New Balance 990v7 surfaced in New York City on the feet of brand ambassador Rosalía during a run through Manhattan. Those sightings helped confirm several design tweaks distinguishing the v7 from its predecessor. The mudguard measures noticeably larger, while the signature “N” logo bridges the size gap between the v6 branding and earlier editions like the v3. Synthetic additions now populate the underlays, which sit closer to the quarter panel.
New Balance Adds FuelCell Cushioning and TPU Shank Plate
Underfoot, New Balance altered the architectural makeup of the shoe. The 990v7 integrates a softer FuelCell compound for enhanced cushioning alongside stability components, including a CR device, ENCAP, and a newly introduced TPU shank plate. 3M underlays accent the upper, providing a more technical finish to the launch colorway. That debut edition arrives in the brand’s classic grey suede, though pre-aged treatments on the midsole and “N” logo break from the plainer core colorways of earlier models.
Chinatown Billboards Serve as Viral Product Previews
The rollout strategy for the silhouette has leaned heavily on unconventional marketing. Prior to the recent appearances, the brand erected a mini billboard in Chinatown that functioned as both a viral stunt and an unannounced product preview, Sneaker News reported. Andrew Rizzo, a junior editor at Sneaker News based in New York City, noted that official release details remain unannounced as of this writing.
